Top Gold at National Cool Climate Wine Show

This week we have walked home with two accolades from the National Cool Climate Wine Show. Both our 2022 and 2023 Estate Riesling have performed incredibly well amongst the hundreds of wines tasted in Bathurst last week.

Following on from the success in at the Royal Queensland Wine Awards, our 2022 Estate Rieslingreceived an outstanding score of 96, which is a Top Gold at the National Cool Climate Wine Show. This latest medal joins a line up of awards for the 2022 Estate Riesling and its very pale straw colour with green tinges. The nose is classic Great Southern Riesling with lime, talc and a perfumed floral lift . Powerful lemon and lime intensity with racy acidity and a quenching slatey finish.

The 2022 vintage started after a very long cold and wet winter with full soil profiles, and abnormally cold temperatures in September delayed bud burst and subsequent cold temperatures all the way through the season saw a late flowering, later veraison and later than normal harvesting. However with cool temperatures comes long maturation time on the vine yielding exceptional fruit intensity and purity of varietal expression.

The 2023 Estate Riesling will be released early next year.

Founded in 1998 by the Bathurst Regional Vignerons Association, the National Cool Climate Wine Show has always existed to benefit, promote and provide world class feedback for Australia’s cool climate wine growers. Now in its 24th year, the National Cool Climate Wine Show has been the largest wine event inland from a capital city,  with hundreds of wine producers entering the show each year and around 800 wines being judged.Â
