2023 Estate Riesling Released with 2018 Estate Museum Partner

Our Castelli Estate2023 Mount Barker Riesling has landed. A late, long, and cool season produced this estate Riesling.

"It was the perfect balance of sunlight hours, cool days and cold nights – producing wines with great fruit intensity, bright acidity, clarity, and purity of varietal expression. This Riesling is powerful with a classic note and perfumed floral lift."

And, to mark the occasion, we are opening the cellar and offering the Estate Riesling 2018 Museum Release alongside the latest vintage.  The 2018 Estate Riesling is a shining example of what the (2023) wine may mature into with a few years under its belt.

The 2018 was as close to perfect as we have seen – in terms of growing seasons. Good winter rains and mild early Spring weather allowed the vines to establish healthy canopies and well-balanced fruit loads. Winemaker Andrew Vesey says the utilisation of purely free run juice in these Rieslings means the wine can really lean on the fruit purity, producing finely structured Rieslings.

“Releasing these two years of Riesling together is a really magical tasting experience for people. The 2018 really shows what this (2023) wine is capable of. The 2023 is definitely a bottle you can put away for 10+ years. The fruit purity and the upfront presentation of flavour shine now – but are only going to get even brighter with time. At the moment, the 2023 is a Riesling everyone can enjoy this summer. It’s a really racy and quenching wine - an absolute asset to a variety synonymous with the Great Southern region.”
